Course Information
CPC31020 Certificate III in Solid Plastering provides a trade outcome in solid plastering for residential and commercial work. The qualification covers common skills for the construction industry as well as specialist solid plastering skills.Solid plasterers apply plaster, cement and other mixtures to walls to create smooth or decorative finishes to interior walls and to render exterior walls.
The qualification supports occupational outcomes such as Solid Plasterer and Renderer. Learners develop the ability to interpret plans, work safely, use solid plastering tools and equipment, prepare surfaces, apply set coats, apply floatand render to straight and curved surfaces, apply trowelled texture finishes and restore or renovate plasterwork.
State and territory jurisdictions may have different licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements. Contempo will ensure students are informed that relevant state or territory requirements should be checked before undertakingregulated work. Completion of the general construction induction training program is required for anyone carrying out construction work, and CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry has been selected to support this requirement.

Aims and Learning Outcome
The CPC31020 Certificate III in Solid Plastering prepares graduates to undertake trade-level solid plastering work in residential and commercial construction environments. Thequalification develops the knowledge and practical skills required to work safely and effectively in the construction industry and to carry out a range of solid plastering tasks under workplace conditions.
Graduates develop foundational construction skills such as workplace communication, work planning, measurements and calculations, plan interpretation, WHS compliance, sustainablework practices and use of construction documentation. These general construction skills are progressively combined with specialist solid plastering skills, including preparing surfaces, handling plastering materials, using tools and equipment, applying setcoats, applying float and render to straight and curved surfaces, applying trowelled texture coat finishes, and restoring or renovating solid plasterwork.
Through completion of the qualification, graduates are expected to demonstrate the ability to:
- interpret basic plans, specifications and workplace instructions relevant to solid plastering work
- communicate effectively with supervisors, trainers, peers and workplace team members
- apply WHS requirements, safe work method statements, job safety analysis and hazard control measures
- select, handle, store and use solid plastering materials safely and appropriately
- select, set up, use, clean and maintain solid plastering tools and equipment
- prepare substrates and surfaces for plastering work in accordance with job requirements
- apply set coats, render, float finishes and texture coat finishes to specified standards
- carry out restoration and renovation tasks on solid plasterwork
- complete work tasks in a simulated construction environment using industry-relevant processes
- apply quality checks, defect identification and corrective actions to completed work
- clean work areas, manage waste and follow environmental requirements
- work individually and as part of a team within construction work routines

Course Duration and Structure
This course is delivered over a period of 1 year. The course duration is:
- 52 Weeks of course duration consisting of:
- 40 Weeks of scheduled study/tuition (4 terms of 10 weeks each)
- 12 Weeks of scheduled breaks/holidays (4 breaks of 3 weeks)
Notes:
1. A minimum of 20 contact hours per week of study/tuition have been scheduled by Contempo College – to ensure students meet their student study visa conditions
2. The course duration may vary for students who have been granted credits or RPL towards this course (e.g., students having completed any units in a previous course/qualification).

Applications must be submitted prior to enrolment completion,with supporting evidence demonstrating existing competencies or equivalent qualifications for relevant course units. No RPL or CT applications will be accepted after enrolment is finalised
