Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in leadership and management, across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

Individuals at this level use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters.

They use cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources and transfer their knowledge to others, and creative or conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives or respond to complex problems.

Pre-requisite Qualification Requirements

Have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma from the BSB Training Package (current or superseded equivalent versions).

or

Have two years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience in an operational or leadership role in an enterprise

 

Aims and Learning Outcome

Graduates of the Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management will attain skills and knowledge at a high-level allowing career progression to senior and management job roles, this program is further aimed at:

 

  • Developing essential skills and knowledge to effectively operate in a workplace in both independent and team environments within a managerial role.
  • Focusing on leadership and organisational development
  • Providing a pathway to further qualifications and learning

 

Entry Requirements

To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, candidates need to demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at Advanced Diploma level, this can be demonstrated via the following.

English (International Students):
IELTS 6.0 or higher with a minimum score of 5.5 in each band or equivalent English language test scores

Academic Level: Minimum Year 12 or equivalent high school certificate.

Minimum Age: 18 years or over at the time of commencement.

NoteStudents who do not meet the minimum English requirement for this course will need to package this course with an appropriate English Course before they can proceed into this course/qualification. An Internal English Test is available on request.

Course Duration and Structure

This course is delivered over a period of 1 year. The course duration is:

 

  • 52 Weeks of Course duration consisting of:
  • 40 Weeks of scheduled study/tuition (4 terms of 10 weeks each)
  • 12 Weeks of scheduled breaks/holidays including pre-training and completion activities (3 breaks of 2 weeks and 1 break of 6 weeks)

Notes:

  1. A minimum of 20 contact hours per week of study/tuition have been scheduled by Contempo – to ensure students meet their student study Visa conditions
  2. The course duration may vary for students who have been granted credits or RPL towards this course (e.g., students having completed any units in a previous course/qualification).
  3. Additionally, students will be required to undertake activities such as homework, research, revision, and prepare for assessments and examinations relevant to each unit of competency in their own

Where the scheduled classes have finished prior to a large holiday break (e.g., Christmas holidays), and students have completed all the course requirements (e.g., re-submissions, re-assessments, intervention etc.), Contempo College shall review and adjust (on a case-to-case basis) student CoEs end dates to ensure that the course does not exceed the time required to complete the course on the basis of full-time study. Similarly, the holiday period shall not be included in the course duration in determining the course start date prior to course commencement

Delivery Mode

Face to Face, classroom-based delivery. All units are delivered and assessed in the instructor-led face-to-face classroom mode. No other modes offered. Students must attend a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Assessments

This course assessments include supervised assessment activities such as in-class assessments, roleplays, demonstrations, practicals, written assessments, exams/tests, and presentations (4 hours pw x 40 weeks = 160 hours) – (4 hours out of 20 scheduled hours per week) and unsupervised practice, research, writing, preparation of presentations etc, and unit specific tasks including preparation of assessment activities and submission of documents (3 hours pw x 40 weeks).

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Support

For all students, strong Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills are fundamental to supporting vocational learning, employability, and effective workplace communication, regardless of their course or training level. To ensure students receive the necessary support, all students undergo LLN testing during Orientation to determine their skill levels and identify any required support. Contempo College uses these assessments to tailor assistance, ensuring learners develop the essential LLN competencies needed for their course and future employment.

Recognition Prior Learning (RPL)/Credit Transfers

Contempo College provides Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) options to all prospective students. Applications must be submitted prior to enrolment completion, with supporting evidence demonstrating existing competencies or equivalent qualifications for relevant course units. No RPL or CT applications will be accepted after enrolment is finalised.

Students may enter the qualification through:

 

BSB51918/BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management or BSB50120 Diploma of Business or another diploma level qualification/s in business, management, or related fields (meeting course entry requirements)

Pathways from the qualification

After achieving this qualification students may choose to enrol into the Contempo BSB80120 Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) or undertake studies at higher education level with higher education providers/institutes or universities. Contempo shall provide students with the required information regarding their pathway options as part of student support.
