Course Information

Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager. The diversity of employers includes restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.

Certificate Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for entry into this qualification. As this qualification is at the Diploma level and it is for experienced practitioners, learners are required to have a good level of LLN skills and knowledge.

Entry Requirements

Academic: Completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent

English: Minimum of IELTS 5.5 Overall score or equivalent

Age: Must be 18 years or above

A pre-enrolment session will be conducted to identify course suitability. All students will be required to sit the Contempo College language, literacy, and numeracy assessment.

Credit Transfer (CT) or Recognition Prior Learning (RPL)

You may be eligible to apply for Credit Transfer (CT) and/or Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL) at application if you have previously studied at another Registered Training Organisation in Australia and have successfully achieved competency. Evidence of study must be submitted at the application to Contempo College.

Course Outcome

Students successfully completing this course will receive the SIT50416 – Diploma of Hospitality Management from Contempo College (CRICOS Code: 03933H).

Assessment Methods

The assessment tools shall include any combination of the following:

Knowledge-based questions; Research activity; Role-plays; Scenarios; Case studies; Portfolios; Project-based tasks; Oral questions; Practical demonstration, and Third-party report.

Successful completion of this course may enable you to enrol into a degree course in the higher education sector. Entry requirements and exemptions vary with course and university in Australia.
